Indre Østfold Municipality was created on 1 January 2020 by the merger of five municipalities: Askim Municipality, Eidsberg Municipality, Hobøl Municipality, Spydeberg Municipality and Trøgstad Municipality.

The blazon is: På grønn bunn en sølv ambolt. Or in English: Vert an anvil argent.
It was approved by the royal resolution of 24 August 1979 after a drawing by Truls Nygaard.
