Located in Yamaguchi City Yamaguchi Prefecture and established in 1996. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a gold and silver emblem and vertical writing gold kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has white background with an orange and yellow symbol mark and horizontally written in black, Kanji and English university name. (Source) The emblem was created at the time of the inauguration of Yamaguchi Women's University in 1975, and incorporates the word "大學" within the outline of the mirror of Yata, one of the three sacred treasures of the university. The kanji character "大" symbolizes the future development of the university in the image of a bird in flight, and was retained even after the name was changed from Yamaguchi Women's University to Yamaguchi Prefectural University in 1996. The symbol mark was created by the university's faculty with the aim of communicating the university's characteristics in colors and shapes in an easy-to-understand manner to the outside world and released in December 2003. The four petals, formed by the combination of two ovals, represent the university's four educational philosophies: "Respect for Humanity," "Harmony with Local Communities," "Emphasis on ordinary citizens Perspectives," and "Response to Internationalization. The white inner part is arranged so that the initial "Y" of Yamaguchi Prefectural University appears, and the petals represent the image of cherry blossom petals spreading out, reminiscent of cherry blossom field, the location of the university.
