Located in Yokohama City Kanagawa Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has dark red background with gold and grey emblem and the university name in gold and Chinese characters written vertically in gold fringe. The university flag has dark red background with a white emblem and university name in white kanji characters written horizontally. The emblem is a design of the Chinese character "大學. There are various theories, but the most popular is that it is surrounded by three winged gulls associated with the port of Yokohama, and that the whole symbolizes the Y of Yokohama City.
