Flag

Located in Hikone City Shiga Prefecture and established in 1995. The university flag has sky blue background with a white symbol mark in the center and the university name in white kanji written horizontally. The motif of the symbol mark is the "S" of SHIGA and the "ripple" or "wave" of Lake Biwa; the three waves represent the nature, culture, and industry of Shiga, as well as knowledge, technology, and humanity in education. These elements, together with the ripples, create an image of a center for academic research that contributes to the future and a place where people can grow. As a whole, the design dynamically and youthfully expresses the attitude of the University of Shiga Prefecture toward the world and toward the future. The symbol color is "Lake Biwa Blue," the clear aqua color of Lake Biwa, a color that evokes the campus' watery surroundings and expresses youthfulness.
