Located in Sagamihara City Kanagawa Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has dark red background with a gold and silver emblem and horizontally written in gold, kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has dark red background with a white emblem in the center. The university emblem is designed as a marguerite flower surrounded by a yata (eight-legged) mirror. This design was based on one devised in 1921 by Yasuoki Noguchi, vice president of the predecessor Imperial College for Women. The word for the marguerite flower is "a pure and innocent maiden's heart full of hope. The university's emblem is also designed in the spirit of "fostering independent women who are both innocent and gentle, feminine and courageous and strong, backed by intelligence," which has been passed down since the university's founding.

The logo mark flag has white background with a navyblue logo mark and horizontally written navyblue English university name. In 2010, the university celebrated its 110th anniversary, and on that occasion adopted a new logo mark. The logo mark was designed by Kaoru Kasai, who was a prominent art director and a visiting professor at the university. Inheriting the motif of the university emblem, "Yata no Kagami" (Yata mirror one of the Imperial regalia), the initials of Sagami Women's University (SWU) are placed within it like a flower.
