Located in Ebetsu City Hokkaido Prefecture and established in 1968. The embroidered ceremonial flag has navy blue background with a gold color emblem and vertical writing gold kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has navy blue background with a white emblem and the university name in white Chinese characters written horizontally. In 1984, based on the change of the university name to "Sapporo Gakuin University," the current emblem incorporating the symbol mark was adopted. The university emblem is a design of "SGU University. Based on the key phrase "Creation of Northern Culture," the emblem resembles the Ainu pattern (yukara) and expresses the university's spirit to "contribute to the development of human culture. The image is divided into three parts, with the upper part representing a university of "growth" and the lower part representing "creation. The central part represents "interaction" and the symbol mark "SGU" symbolizes "possibility. The design is by Teruo Suda.
