Flag

Located in Okayama City Okayama Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has navy blue background with a gold, silver, and red emblem in gold fringe. The central part of the emblem of the university is a shield of the color blue, known as the color of the Virgin Mary, with two lilies, a star, a book, and Mt. Fuji. The shield and the silvery-white lilies commemorate the Notre Dame nunnery founded in France, whose emblem is the Fleur-de-lis . The star, also shining silver-white, symbolizes the Virgin Mary, the Star of Dawn, the patroness of Japan and the protector of the Society. Next, the open book, framed in gold, symbolizes learning, and the two words "清心" written above it mean that the knowledge of God, learned through the pure heart of the Virgin Mary, is the ultimate goal and crown of all learning. The golden Mt. Fuji with silver-white snow on the base of the emblem represents Notre Dame Seishin University in Japan. 1949 was the year of the university's foundation, and the blue and gold color scheme is the university's color.
