Located in Kashihara City Nara Prefecture and established in 1947. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purplish blue background with a blue and green symbol mark and vertically written gold kanji university name in gold fringe. The university flag has purplish blue background with a blue and green symbol mark and gold kanji university name written horizontally. (Source) The symbol mark is based on the initials "N" of Nara Medical University. The double arcs signify the supportive relationship between medicine and nursing, and the leaf shape extending from the arc symbolizes the growth of medical professionals and a leap into the future, and the development of the university. The selection committee, which included the President and other members from outside the university, decided to adopt the work of Takahiro Takaraya (graphic designer) as the Grand Prize winner for the 276 entries submitted from all over Japan, and the award was established after approval at the March 30, 2009 board meeting.
