Located in Nagoya City Aichi Prefecture and established in 1964. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purplish blue background with a silver and gold emblem in gold fringe. The university flag has white background with a blue and brown symbol mark. (Source) The university emblem is kanji initials of the university "工大" within a pentagonal star. When Momosuke Fukuzawa, the "King of Electricity," founded Daido Electric Power Co in 1920, the company adopted the "star mark," which is a stylized version of the Chinese character 大 the initial of the company name as its corporate emblem. The school name and emblem of Daido Institute of Technology, which opened later in 1964, were taken over from this and became a star mark with the characters 大同"Daido" and "工大" as an expression of "institute of technology". From an industrial university to a general university, Daido Institute of Technology changed its name to "Daido University" in 2009. They created the symbol mark that would become the new face of the university, as well as the VI and university guide. The symbol mark represents "fusion of tradition and innovation" and "creation and harmony" with two arcs, as well as the "D" of Daido University.
