The municipality of Noršuržing was formed in 2006 by merging the
municipalities of Húsavík, Öxarfjöršur,
Raufarhöfn and Kelduneshreppur.
The new municipality kept the emblem
used by the Húsavík municipality, but I have no information if the Húsavík
municipality used a flag before.

Norðurþing municipality controls the three
harbours at Húsavík, Raufarhöfn and Kópasker.
