The symbols of Slivno are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Slivno, adopted on 21 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 27 July 2009 in the local official gazette Neretvanski glasnik - Službeno glasilo Grada Metkovića, Grada Opuzena i općina Slivno, Zažablje, Kula Norinska, Pojezerje, No. 4.
The flag of Slivno was, most probably, first presented to the public on 15 August 2008 (Ascension Day) during a ceremonial session of the Municipality Assembly (photo).
The flag is described in Article 6 of the Statutes as in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms, bordered white, in the middle. The width of the coat of arms is 1/3 of the flag's width.

The coat of arms is described in Article 5 of the Municipality Statutes as in "Romanesque shield shape", horizontally divided into yellow over blue. From the wavy blue sea is raising up to its chests with its wings spread a white falcon, looking towards dexter. The blazon is "Per fess wavy or and azure from which is issuing a falcon argent displayed".

The shield of the coat of arms of the Municipality of Slivno is divided
horizontally into two equal fields: the upper field is white and the lower field
is gold. In the upper field, there is a falcon with open wings visible from the
chest with a view to the right edge of the shield. In the lower golden field are
two horizontal parallel wavy beams of blue color (water), and the upper one
touches the white field.
The municipal flag is blue and placed
vertically. Ratio of the sides of the flag: a:b=1:2. The coat of arms of the
municipality is placed in the optical center of the flag, trimmed in white
(silver). The ratio of the width of the coat of arms to the width of the flag is
1:3, i.e. the width of the coat of arms is equal to 1/3 of the width of the
flag.

The coat of arms of Slivno municipality is in the form of a Romanesque
shield. It is divided crosswise into four equal fields. The top two and bottom
two fields are colored alternately: the top left field is white and the right
field is red, while the bottom left field is red and the right field is white. A
smaller shield is placed in the heart of the coat of arms, and in the upper
white field is the figure of a falcon with spread wings. He is divided
horizontally into two parts: The stylization of his character is taken from the
coat of arms of the Nonković family. The lower field of the smaller shield is
divided by three wavy lines into four fields: two blue and two gold. Viewed from
the center of the shield towards its bottom, the color scheme is: blue, gold,
blue, gold.
The graphic elements in the flag are arranged so that they
read sr in a vertical sequence - from the spear line to the bottom edge. The
ratio of the rope to the long side of the flag is 1:2. The length of the flag is
divided into two equal fields. The upper half is divided into four equal fields
like the shield of the municipal coat of arms, with alternately colored red and
white fields. The lower half of the flag is blue with two wide parallel wavy
bands of gold. In the center of the flag, at the top of the upper blue wave,
there is a spread figure of a falcon identical to the one in the small shield of
the municipal coat of arms. The lower blue field bears the inscription SLIVNO
embroidered in golden capital letters. The entire flag (except for the edge next
to the spear) is trimmed with gold with two golden tassels on the lower corners
and one in the middle.
