Flag of Champagne-sur-Oise

The flag of Champagne-sur-Oise, hoisted in the Champagne-sur-Oise traffic circle with the flags of the other municipalities of the Communauté de communes Haut-Val-d'Oise (photo), is white with the municipal coat of arms, "Azure a cogwheel or surrounding a torteau charged with three fossil fern branches sable one palewise and the other two per chevron reversed debruised by two lightnings argent issuant from the fern branches and issuant from each flank of the shield per chevron reversed the cogwheel ensigned by a fleur-de-lis or and surmounted by a wavy barrulet argent supporting a Passion nail of the same flanked by two fleurs-de-lis or", and the name of the municipality below, as "CHAMPAGNE-SUR-OISE". The flag hoisted in the same place in 2016 (photo) had the name of the municipality written as "Champagne sur Oise" (it should have been "Champagne-sur-Oise").

The black fossil fern branches on a red background are reminiscent of coal burning and powering the cogwheel producing electrical energy (lightning), symbolizing the local power plant.
The three fleurs-de-lis symbolize both Île-de-France and, with the nail, the arms of the abbey of Saint-Denis, which owned the lands of Champagne-sur-Oise. The wave stands for river Oise. The wheat garbs recall the rural origin of Champagne-sur-Oise.
