Westerwald County Coat of Arms

Shield Argent parted by a bend Vert fimbriated Sable, beneath right seven basalt pillars Sable, above left a clay jug Azure.
Meaning:
The basalt pillars are symbolising the volcanic origin of the Westerwald, and each pillar is representing one of the seven Associated Municipalities "(Verbandsgemeinden)" of the county. The jug is symboliseing the formerly important pottery industry in a large part of the county. The green bend is symbolising the rural character.
