Absberg Coat of Arms

Shield Argent parted by an embowed chevron Gules, issuant from base a triplemount Sable.
Meaning:
Absberg gained the rights of a market town in 1372. The local castle had been the ancestral seat of the Lords of Absberg<7i>. The town arms are derived from the family arms of the lords. They displayed on a white shield a mantle parted per pale of blue and gold. The first seal of town and court from around 1600 has a shield crested by a coronet of leaves and flanked by two stars. All seals, medals and arms until 1820 displayed the chevron alone. In the 19th century a star in base was added, which was replaced by a canting triplemount in the 20tzh century. In 1812 the tinctures were changed. The chevron then had been blue on a golden shield.
