Meaning:
The arms are based on a court seal from the 17th century with a print from 1719. Sebastian is the patron saint of the local parish church, built from 1668 until 1680 and demolished in 1928. The village was mentioned as a city in the 18th century and the city rights were confirmed in 1817 by Bavaria. The flag colours are not the Bavarian colours but those of the von der Leyen kin, which acquired the Lordship of Blieskastel between 1660 and 1793 as vassals of the Archbishopric of Trier.
