Schwanau Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a swan najant Argent, armed Sable and tongued Gules, in dexter chief a triangular inescutcheon Or charged with an embattled fess Gules.
Meaning:
Schwanau was established on 1 July 1972 by a merger of Allmannsweier, Nonnenweier and Ottenheim incl. Wittenweier. Name giver of the new municipality is Schwanau Castle, which belonged to the Lords of Geroldseck. The castle was conquered by Straßburg in 1333 and ground.The swan is a canting element. The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Lords of Geroldseck with one difference. The embattlement on top of the red fess is alluding to Schwanau Castle.
