Neunkirchen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per chevron embowed, above Argent a helmet Gules at dexter and a crozier of the same at sinister, beneath Gules a 6-spokes wheel Argent.
Meaning:
Neunkirchen was established in 1975 by a merger of Neunkirchen proper, Richelbach and Umpfenbach. The helmet is representing Umpfenbach and is alluding to the fact that the village was ruled of different kins of imperial knights (German: Reichsritter). Very important had been the Barons of Gudenus, who earned great merits in the village, which they acquired in 1775. Baron Valentin Ferdinand of Gudenus (1679 - 1758) wrote an important chronicle of the Archbishopric of Mainz. The crozier of an abbess is stressing the close relationships between Richelsbach and the Benedictine Altmünster Nunnery. Its first Abbess Bihildis is patron saint of the local parish church. The wheel is alluding to the archbishopric, which had the local cognisance and had also been the most important manorial lord in Neunkirchen.
