Schäftlarn Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a boat Argent between two oars Argent in saltire, in chief a 6-point star Argent.
Meaning:
The arms are one of the oldest in Bayern. They had been already the arms of the local monastery since the 15th century. The meaning of the municipality's name is mistaken as being derived from Greek "scapha", i.e. boat. It is referring to the ferry to the monastery on the banks of the Isar River. It appears first without star in 1462. The star is just a decorating ornament. The old age is confirmed by the simplicity of the arms. The oars are crossed that way, that the bendy one is in front of the boat and the other behind.

The arms were approved on 18 December 1933. The banner is used unofficially.
