Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a horseshoe Gules, at sinister Azure an atom model Argent.
Meaning:
Eggenstein and Leopoldshafen merged on 1 December 1974. Before both used a horseshoe as local symbol, especially in the municipal seals from the 19th century and in the arms of Eggenstein, adopted in 1902. The atom model is representing the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre, which had been established in 1956 on the area of Leopoldshafen. It was the first nuclear research centre in Germany and of great economic importance. The tinctures are those of both former municipalities.
