Lichtenberg Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base of rocks Argent, topped by a castle Gules, having three towers with roofs Azure, at dexter an annexe Gules, at sinister a court with gate Gules, in the open gate Azure of the central tower a demi-unicorn salient Argent with horn Or.
Meaning:
The castle was displayed first on local seals from the 15th century, a legend, telling about the defence of the castle in 1444, claims that the arms had been granted the same year. The unicorn is the heraldic animal of the Lords of Waldenfels. Kaspar of Waldenfeld had acquired city and lordship in 1430. The current pattern was fixed in 1952 and was based upon the oldest seal and a painting from 1767. The pattern remained basically the same, but details were often changed.
