Schöngeising Coat of Arms

Shield gyronny of six, 1st and 3rd gyron Argent, 2nd gyron Azure a Greek cross Or, 4th and 6th gyron Vert, 5th gyron Argent a cross trefly Gules, over all a fess chequered of Argent and Gules.
Meaning:
The gyronny shield and the cross Or are taken from the personal arms of Orlando di Lassos, a famous bandmaster at the court of Duke Wilhelm V of Bayern. He lived in Schöngeising Manor, where he died in 1594. The Cistercian chequered fess is representing Fürstenfeld Abbey, the manorial lord of the village. The cross trefly is an unusual representation of St. John the Baptist, the local patron saint.
