Holzheim Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Argent a lion rampant Azure, crowned, armed and tongued Or; at sinister Azure three 6-point stars Or in bend; chief parted per fess of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
The chief displays the tinctures of the Bishopric of Augsburg. Its chapter owned estates in the village already before 1220. It acquired more properties and the local bailiwick between 1311 and 1360. The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts Adelmann of Adelmannsfelden. He is reminding on the famous humanist Conrad Adelmann, who lived in the village and died there in 1547. The stars are taken from the personal arms of Abbot Michael Dobler of Deggingen, who died in 1777. His namesake nephew, who lived from 1730 until 1815, had been the last imperial prelate of the Neresheim Monastery.
