The flag was designed by local leader Jaime Alberto Beltrán Salamanca (probably by 2019), being created through a contest created through Contract 249 of that year. It was adopted officially through Local Agreement 003 of 2023 on 21 June 2023. With symbolism explained by its author: The flag itself is a beige field for local tranquility, peace, and harmony, with three brown diagonal dotted lines to the top-left and lower-right for thoughts leaving and entering by word, work, and action. In the center is a diamond shape outlined in brown for the great expanse of Mother Earth which allows for the building of the locality; it is also outlined in green for its parks and hills, connecting the city to rural areas, and agricultural production; and finally, going to the center is a blue diamond for having great importance in local waterways, where waterways connect and serve as a gateway to the Sumapaz Region. In the very center is a yellow circle with its color standing for happiness, love, and maintaining local culture.
The central yellow circle represents the sun and moon for local energy (also important gods of Muisca mythology). Two humans, in brown and side by side, appear in "amphibian" form which represent the Muisca Indian story of creation. Together, the diamond shapes are a window into the imaginary world of ancestral beliefs and ones held today; overall, being for the spiritual trance where one tries to communicate with the spiritual world.
