Dave Fowler, 2 March 2022
The municipality (1,965 inhabitants in 2016; 8,340 ha) is located 30 km east
of Sorel-Tracy.
Saint-François-du-Lac was named for St. Francis-Xavier
and François de Lauzon, son of Jean de Lauzon, owner of a domain located near
river Saint-François. "du Lac", "at the Lake", was added to highlight nearness
with Lake Saint-Pierre.

Flag is a logo
on white.
 Dave Fowler, 2 March 2022
The logo was designed by François Roy.
As for the graphic part, the
superimposition of the lozenge to the coat of arms makes the shield's classical
element more actual and dynamic.
The lozenge illustrates the community's
values and qualities.
The upper left part features the sun, as the emblem of
energy and light. This emphasizes the force enounced in the baseline.
The
upper right part features green and golden yellow furrows, emphasizing the
significance of agriculture. Very simple, this part brings a more graphic but
still efficient component in the design.
The lower right part features a more
graphic, polysemic element. The cross represents the junction of roads 132 and
143. The cross conveys also a spiritual dimension. The upper blue part and lower
golden yellow part highlights the significance of water and land, recalling the
geographical location.
The lower left part emphasizes the significance of the
fauna for the community connected with the surrounding national environment. The
goose represents migrating birds that mark the region's life while the fishes
recalls Lake Saint-Pierre.
In the background, the shield features elements of
the municipality's landscape, in the upper part, the bridge over river
Saint-François. In the lower part, green represents the natural environment
while blue recalls Lake Saint-Pierre.
Black and golden yellow convey the
community's nobleness, wealth and prosperity. Blue and green convey calm,
serenity and nature. Yellow conveys vividness, action and light.
As for
the text part, the baseline "Gets its force from the love for its community,
since 1673" emphasizes the connection between the population and the
municipality, active for some 350 years.
The calligraphic typography
highlights the tercentenary municipality. The blue letters bring depth.
Educated, stable and calm, blue with preferred color of several corporations.
Green conveys sweetness, elegance and distinction.
