Municipality

The municipality of Vila Flores (3,207 inhabitants in 2010; 10,782 ha) is located 150 km north of Porto Alegre.

Vila Flores, originally known as Pinheiro Seco, was renamed to Vila Flores in 1920, as a tribute to the Fiori family, which developed trade in the area. The district of Vila Flores was established within Veranópolis by Municipal Law No. 240 promulgated on 30 September 1955.
The municipality of Vila Flores was established by State Law No. 8,627 promulgated on 12 May 1988.
