About the Flag

The municipality of Foz de Jordão (5,218 inhabitants in 2010; 23,540 ha) is located 350 km west of Curitiba.

The flag of Foz de Jordão is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 20 promulgated on 26 April 1997.

Article 2.
The flag of the municipality of Foz de Jordão shall be rectangular, in proportions 14 units in width on 20 units in length, with the following characteristics.
a) The flag is composed of three horizontal stripes of equal dimensions, the upper one blue, the central one white, and the lower one green.
b) On the blue stripe's right side (at hoist) is placed a golden (yellow) five-pointed star of 2 units, with the upper point in pale, surrounded by five smaller stars of 0.5 unit each.
The center of the greater star is located 3 units from the hoist. This star represents the seat of the municipality (Foz de Jordão). The smaller stars, also golden (yellow), with the upper point in pale, are placed 0.5 unit from each point of the greater star and represent the communities of São Francisco, Arroio dos Índios, São Roque, Novo Horizonte and Porto Fanor.
c) The central white stripe is charged with a rainbow proper, recalling that this phenomenon significantly occurs in the municipality, caused by abundant water resources. The arcs that represent the rainbow's seven colors are of 0.5 unit each.
The rainbow's first outer stripe is placed 2 units from each side, in base of the white stripe.
The rainbow represents aspiration to a promising future.
The blue stripe represents indigo sky; the white, peace, and the green, forests and plantations.
