About the Flag

The municipality of Campo Magro (24,843 inhabitants in 2010; 27,547 ha) is located 20 km north-west of Curitiba.

Campo Magro was mentioned, according to José Carlos Veiga Lopes, on the "List of the Ordinances of the Town of Curitiba", dated 1791, as a borough composed of eight houses. Campo Magro owes its odd name (Meager Camp) to pastures used in winter season by tropeiros, where grass was very thin.
The municipality of Campo Magre was established by State Law No. 11,221 promulgated on 11 December 1995, separating from Almirante Tamandaré, and inaugurated on 1 January 1997.
