Description of the Flag

The flag is a white field with a blue border. In the center is a gold-bordered shield which contains four historic landmarks. They include the historic street clock, the water fountain, and the gate of the Mount Hop municipal stadium. Along with the others, is a large chunk of white oak coal, which is a type of smokeless coal. Above the shield is a golden banner which contains a variant of the town motto: "The little town with the big welcome". However, the official version of the motto is "The little city with the big welcome". Under the shield is the city name with the state abbreviations.

The second box shows the historic water fountain, which was constructed by Italian masons. The third box shows the steeple of the United States postal service building. The fourth box shows one of the towers from the gate of the Mount Hope municipal stadium, which was completed in 1938. Under the boxes is the city name.
