Description of the flag

According to City Clerk Kari Egbert, an official city flag was adopted with Resolution 49-67 on November 20, 1967, but an actual flag was not produced until 1995.

Description of the flag:
The ring with 17 stars is for Ohio being the 17th state admitted to the union. The inner circle presents the city and includes clasped hands symbolizing peace, brotherly love, and harmony among all residents regardless of race, creed, or religion; smoke stacks symbolizing the industry, business, and other occupations needed for the city to thrive financially; and the quill, scroll and lamp symbolizing the knowledge and education needed by young residents.
