Description of the flag

Based on a black and white image, the flag has a frame of two colors around a central white field and the seal in the middle.

The borders are gold (outer) and black (inner). The arms in the center of the seal are also primarily gold/or, with black/sable and white/argent charges and outlining. The circle around the seal is black with gold lettering.

I found a PDF file of a 1921 book about the Morehead family. It includes a color picture of the family coat of arms, which is similar to the city named after the family. The description in the book is similar to the picture, but says the roller banner at the top of the shield is white and green and a star on the shield is gold. I also found a Morehead police patch, the colors of which differ.

I would have to agree with Alec about the flag colors; and show the end border being gold and the inside border is black.

The colors on this flag are still uncertain. The best image we can find on Googlemaps is at, where a contrast exists between the border and the ring. But what are the colors of the stripe and the acorns upon the shield? On the Google Maps photo, I'd guess a white stripe and gold acorns. However, in other photos I've seen the stripe looks blue and the acorns look white. In contrast, on the Morehead family coat of arms, the stripe is blue and the acorns are gold.
