About the company

Transtejo operates passenger ferries across the Tagus estuary, between Lisbon and the left bank (Cacilhas in Almada, Montijo and Seixal); it also sails tourist cruises in the Tagus mouth and neighbouring ocean, and owns Soflusa, previously a railroad ferry line (Lisbon - Barreiro).

This company operates the apparently internationally known cacilheiro ships. "E.P." in the company name means "Empresa Pública", i.e., state-owned company.

About the flag

Last Sunday I saw the company houseflag for the first time after many years using its services. It was hoisted in the peak of the vessel S. Paulus (moored), nowdays used only for tourist cruises. The company houseflag is dark green with the company logo in orange at the upper hoist. I never saw any flag in Transtejo ships before this time — neither the houseflag nor the national ensign, neither in Sundays nor in workdays.

After Brown’s Flags and Funnels, 1995 [lgr95], Transportes Tejo E.P. (Transtejo), Lisbon — white flag, in center two slanting "T"’s, one orange, one black, both interrupted by white horizontal stripes.

This is the usual logo-on-white flag, which may be the only company flag “on land”. The flag actually hoisted on the ships of this company, albeit quite scarcely, is green.
