Blazon: På blå grunn eit sølv firblad. In English: Azure a quatrefoil argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 31 March 1989 after a drawing by Arvid Sveen from Vadsø.  "The arms show four acanthus leaves to symbolize growth and strength. These leaves are found in many historic artefacts from around the area."
The muncipal web site  explains that the design symbolizes creativnes of municipal inhabitants. The acanthus flower/leaves in general stand for flourishing - growth.
