The council informed me their municipal coat of arms was adopted in 1992, under the administration of Municipal President Crescencio Oliveira Cantú. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the State, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon under reading PARAS N.L. SIEMPRE PROGRESISTA. The border reads RANCHO HUIZACHAL DE LOS CANALES to the sides; at the bottom, the year 1851, when it became a municipality. At the top of the border are two bees signifying work of the inhabitants.
The upper-left section depicts rock paintings, symbolizing the Frontón de Piedras Pintas, and a man working the land with a corn plant next to him. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, a symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the Municipal Building, with the Primary School next to it; under this is the Sacred Heart of Jesus church. The lower-right section depicts an Anacahuita tree, first to be planted in the plaza, and its fauna: a deer and wild boar. In the center is an inescutcheon, depicting the face of José María Parás y Ballasteros, first governor who the Municipality is named after.
