The council informed me they could not find information regarding their coat of arms. It is known that it was adopted in 1982. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the state, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon below in the National Colors reading DR. COSS N.L. The border reads RANCHO PASO DEL ZACATE to the sides, its original name. At the bottom is 1882 SEPT. 27, the day it became a Villa; to the right of this, the year 1982, when the coat of arms was adopted. The upper-left section depicts the Sacred Heart of Jesus church and its hill. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts: a bovine, corn plant, watermelon (one sliced and one whole); these represent cattle-raising and agriculture respectively. The lower-right section depicts the Municipal Building. In the center is an inescutcheon, divided into white and red bands; it is a shield of the Coss surname, remembering José María Coss who the municipality is named after.
