In 1587, he and his father Takanobu participated in Hideyoshi's pacification of Kyushu, and were relieved of their 63,200 goku Iki province. He participated in Hideyoshi's invasion of Korea and established himself as a modern feudal lord. He conducted trade with the Netherlands and England and laid the foundation for Hirado's prosperity. The three circles are the "Matsuura three-star" family emblem which represent the Grand Shogun, the Left Shogun, and the Right Shogun. The war banner has red background with white three circles above two white horizontal stripes.
