The flag of Kirishima is white with symbol. The city was founded on 2005 from merger of city of Kokubu and towns of Fukuyama, Hayato, Kirishima, Makizono, Mizobe and Yokogawa.

The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Nov 7th 2005 by Notice No 1 and No 2. The white flag has a green, a blue and an orange three color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized K of Kirishima. The green color stands for a rich plain field, the blue color for Amorigawa River and Kinko Bay with calm waves, the orange color for the flowers, a vogor and the dreams,the white chevron for the range of Kirishima Mountains. As a whole, it represents an image of the city which makes a leap forward to the world with a reconciliation of a superb nature with the citizen.
The flag proportion is 2: 3. The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 of the height of the flag.
