At
https://www.radionawa.com/all-detail.aspx?jimare=5289, a flag is very
clearly present. It is a vertical triband of green, white and blue with a symbol
in the center. Green, from what I can gather online (Reddit), is for its
agriculture and blue signifies the fact that Basrah Governorate has the
country's only ports. In the center, an oil derrick appears as it is the largest
oil producer of Iraq. Two palm leaves surround it as Basrah is also Iraq's
largest date producer. Clearly, the governor does not use this flag so it is
most likely not the "Basra flag". Rather, it is a
regionalist flag; supporters advocating for the upgrade in status from a
governorate to a region are very common in using this flag. I should note there
are definitely photos of this on outdoor flagpoles.
