The symbols of Mali Bukovec (municipal website) are prescribed by (unpublished) Decision Odluka o opisu i uporabi grba i zastave Općine Mali Bukovec, adopted on 17 June 2008 by the Municipality Council.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Mali Bukovec, adopted on 14 July 2009 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 11 August 2009 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, No. 27, while they were not described in the previous (2006) version of the Statutes. This is repeated in the current Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Mali Bukovec, adopted on 28 March 2013 and published on 30 March 2013 in Službeni vjesnik Varaždinske županije, No. 18 (text).
The flag, designed by Krunoslav Čolo and Josip Kancijan, a painter from Mali Bukovec, was approved on 24 April 2009 by the Ministry of Administration.
The flag is in proportions 1:2, green with the coat of arms, bordered yellow, in the middle.
Green is said to represent happiness and the natural resources of the municipality.
