Presentation of Cerna

Cerna is located about 30 km south-west of Vukovar, halfway between Županja and Vinkovci. It has 4,700 inhabitants, of which 4,100 live in the village of the same name.

Flag of Cerna

The flag of Cerna is prescribed by Decision Odluka o zastavi Općine Cerna i načinu i uvjetima njezine uporabe i zaštite, adopted on 22 December 2001 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 20 March 2002 in the County official gazette Službeni vjesnik Vukovarsko-srijemske županije, No. 3.

The flag of is in proportions 1:2, light blue with the coat of arms in the middle. The height of the coat of arms is 2/3 of the flag's width.

The coat of arms is in a blue shield with a yellow base forming two coticed triangles, from it is raising a maroon cross with two cross-bars "interlaced" with the Croatian checky shield in front of a yellow square lozenge bordered yellow, whose border forms two wattled squares in the base. The shield is topped with a white ribbon inscribed in red "CERNA".
The minutes of the 18th session of the Municipal Assembly say:

Also, a procedure for the production of the official coat of arms of the municipality was initiated. The coat of arms used until now was not official, since it was never approved by the Central State Office for Administration. It was not approved since it was made against all the heraldic rules. Now, the wish is to get an official coat of arms and flag that may represent us.
