Introduction

Pumpkin Scissors is the name of a 2006 anime series which takes place in an otherwise unnamed Empire amid the immediate aftermath of a protracted war between that empire and another major power, the Frost Republic, both roughly at a 1920s level of technology. The title refers to the codename (like "Alpha Bravo") of a military unit, the Third Relief Corps of the Imperial army, trying to combat the lingering devastation, shortages, famine, and general breakdown of society.

The Empire

The flag of the Empire is shown in the prologue to episode 1 (screenshot): a dark-lavender field with an odd sort of double cross, mostly turquoise but with a narrow black/white border - except for the lower crossbar, which is black - and with gold fringe on the fly end only. Location is apparently supposed to be Europe, though I'm not positive.
