The municipality of Noblejas (3,486 inhabitants in 2018; 7,000 ha; municipal website) is located on the border with the Community of Madrid, 60 km north-east of Toledo, 10 km north-east of Ocaña, and 30 km south-east of Aranjuez.

Noblejas is said to have been established in 714, without any evidence. The town was first mentioned in 1139 as a village belonging to Aurelia (Oreja).
The County of Noblejas was erected in 1689 for Francisco Antonio de Herrera de la Concha.

Symbols of Noblejas

The flag of Noblejas (photo, photo, photo) is prescribed by an Order issued on 2 December 1993 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 15 December 1993 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 89, p. 6,520 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, vertically divided in two halfs, at hoist, blue with three scallops placed 2 and 1, at fly, white.

The Royal Academy of History approved the proposed flag "without inconvenience".
[Boletín de la Real Academia de la Historia 191:1, 172. 1994]

The coat of arms of Noblejas is prescribed by Decree No. 27, issued on 22 April 1986 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 29 April 1986 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 17, p. 618 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1. Azure three scallops argent placed 2 and 1, 2. Argent two bunches of grapes vert. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The coat of arms was designed by Buenaventura Leblic García and José Luis Ruz Márquez. The first quarter is based on a coat of arms found in the town's church, featuring the canting arms of the de la Concha lineage, lords, Counts and Dukes of Noblejas. The second quarter recalls teh documented medieval estates.
[Municipal website]

The municipality used from "immemorial time" a coat of arms surmounted by a Ducal coronet and placed over a Ducal mantle. The shield features a huge number of quarters; the first quarter is "Per pale, 1. Gules two caldrons or with snake's heads vert as handles. A bordure of the same eight caldrons or, 2. Azure three scallops argent placed 2 and 1."
These are the arms of the Dukes of Noblejas, erected in 1829. The profusion of quarters representing lineage alliances makes the full identification of the arms impossible.
