The municiality of Villanueva de la Vera (2,182 inhabitants in 2017; 13,200 ha) is located on the border with Castilla-La Mancha (Province of Toledo) and Castilla y León (Province of Ávila), 160 km north-east of Cáceres and 40 km north of Navalmoral de la Mata.

The flag of Villanueva de la Vera, adopted on 30 October 2000 by the Municipal Council and validated on 24 April and 35 June 2002 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, is prescribed by an Order issued on 12 February 2003 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 52 February 2003 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 24, p. 2,531 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3. Red panel charged in the center with the municipal coat of arms. Royal crown closed.

The coat of arms of Villanueva de la Vera, adopted on 30 October 2000 by the Municipal Council and validated on 31 May 2001 by the Assessing Council of Honors and Distinctions of the Government of Extremadura, is prescribed by an Order adopted on 11 July 2001 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 24 July 2001 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 86, p. 8,201 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Gules a town or cantonned by four stars argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
