Flag of Castañar de Ibor

The flag and arms of Castañar de Ibor, adopted on 24 June 1989 by the Municipal Council and validated on 9 February 1990 by the Royal Academy of History, are prescribed by an Order issued on 19 February 1990 by the Government of Extremadura and published on 1 March 1990 in the official gazette of Extremadura, No. 18, p. 363 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular, green with the municipal coat of arms in full colors in the center.
Coat of arms: Or a chestnut vert on waves azure and argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.

The Royal Academy of History highlighted the "exemplary simplicity" of the proposed arms, which were designed from scratch. The arms are canting, castaño meaning "a chestnut".
