The flag of Funen displays a red Scandinavian cross, with blue borders, on a green field. Its use seems to be entirely unofficial and the information on it is meagre: it was not possible to find out, when it was created and the site which tries to describe its meaning does not cite any sources, while claiming that at least one has existed. According to what is available, green and blue would stand for the fertile land of Funen and the sea surrounding the island, respectively and red would symbolise the ties with Denmark. While the Web graphics display a rather light shadeof green, the few existing photos reveal a darker shade. While the design details seem to vary between the photos, those which display a professionally made flag reveal that the cross and borders resemble those in the flag of Faroe Islands, while the flag ratio is close to the one prescribed for the flag of Denmark in the 1893 regulations.
