Wolfratshausen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a wolf rampant Sable, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The canting wolf was already displayed on the first town seal, proven by prints since 1403. The arms remained basically the same. Klemens Stadler mentions a traditional red-white town banner, based on the erroneous assumption that in the 19th century municipal flags had to be red-white. Wolfratshausen probably had the status of a market town in the 13th century. Its privileges were extended in 1312 and 1323. In 1961 Wolfratshausen gained city rights.

The arms are in use since the 15th century. The red-white flag was in use according to Klemens Stadler at least until 1968.
