Schmidgaden Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a beech Vert issuant from base wavy of the same, chief Gules a scythe blade Argent in fess.
Meaning:
The blade is referring to the Lords of Schmidgaden, the local rulers, and to the rural character of the municipality as well. The beech is representing Buchtal and is thus canting. Buchtal is famous for its ceramic manufacturing plant. The colours white and red are those of the Paulsdorfer kin, who held the right of patronage of the local parish church.
