Description of current flag:
The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a red over yellow over red horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the centre of the yellow stripe.

Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a red shield three golden(=yellow) blossoms of broom are placed between two fesses wavy of the same colour.
Meaning:
According to source the wavy lines are symbolizing river Ems and Glane creek. Broom is an endemic species.
