Saal Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Gules two lilies Argent with stems in fan, superimposed by a reversed andiron pall Or; beneath Or a table Sable.
The lily is an attribute of St. Mary and is representing the pilgrimage church dedicated to her as comforter of the sorrowful people. The andiron is taken from the arms of the Counts of Wildberg, who lived in the Grabfeld area from the 12th century until 1304. The table, blasoned as table cross, is taken from the arms of the Marshals of Ostheim, who lived in Waltershausen between 1456 and 1782. The tinctures are representing former rulers, black and gold are representing the Counts of Henneberg, red and white are those of the Bishopric of Würzburg, their successors since 1583.
