Description of flag:
The flags ratio is 3:5. It is a red over white horizontal bicolour with a white flaghead containing the coat of arms..
Description of coat of arms:
Upon a green mountain, having three tops, stands a silver(=white) castle in a red field. The castle has three embattled towers. The central tower is broader, has an open gate containing a silver(=white) triangular shield, which contains a red indented chevron (German: Rautensparren).
Meaning: According to Veddeler 2003, p.109 the chevron is taken from the arms of the lords of Büren. The arms are known since 13th century.
