Flossenbürg Coat of Arms

Shield Gules; on top of a rock Sable a belfry Argent; in chief two impending escutcheons,;at dexter Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure.
The belfry as part of the ruined castle of Flossenbürrg is a local landmark. The rock is symbolsing the local quarries and the depletion of granite. The escutcheons are symbolising the changeful relationships to different lines of the Wittelsbach kin, especially to the Principality of Pfalz-Sulzbach, which was ruled before 1777 from Mannheim. The tinctures red and silver are reminding on the Cistercian Waldsassen Nunnery and its ecclestical relationships to the village.
